WHO IS THIS GARDENING COURSE FOR?
This course is for any gardener who would like to learn how to clip topiary. Taught by professional topiary artist Darren Lerigo, you will enjoy a day of learning and hands-on practical experience. Darren will be joined by topiary enthusiast Chris Poole from the European Boxwood and Topiary Society UK.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO LEARN FROM THE TOPIARY COURSE?
The one-day course is broken up into informative learning and practical sessions.
The key learnings for the day include:
- Principles of clipping
- How to select the right plant
- Clipping techniques for large and small jobs
- Table top topiary
- Looking after your tools
- Sharpening techniques
WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON THE ONE-DAY TOPIARY COURSE?
You are encouraged to bring your own clipping and pruning tools so that we can talk about best practice and how to care for your kit. We will have tools available to buy on the day from our retail partner Urban Grow UK or you can buy ahead of the course by clicking on this link. Participants, on booking, will receive a 10% discount code for Urban Grow UK should they wish to purchase tools ahead of attending the course.
TOPIARY GARDENING COURSE ITINERARY
9.30am - Welcome and registration
10am - Morning learning session commences
11.15am - Refreshments
1pm - Lunch
2pm - Hands-on clipping session
3.30pm - Questions and kit discussion with tea and cake
4pm - Depart
MAKING THE EXPERIENCE THAT EXTRA BIT SPECIAL...
Each participant on the course will receive a pair of Jakoti Shears to take home and have their own Golden Cyprus tree to practice skills on during the day.
Lunch will be a delicious two-course meal shared in the snug at the Yorke Arms and refreshments plus afternoon tea and home-made cake is also included.
