Our one-day beginner gardening course is the perfect gardening course for anyone starting to explore their love of gardening. Based at the beautiful Yorke Arms in Nidderdale, you will spend the day covering all the basics to becoming a confident gardener.
Gain confidence and knowledge in the fun world of gardening. We'll look at everything from soil structure through to designing your dream flower border. You will leave armed with ideas and skills ready to transform your garden.
What will you learn on our beginner's gardening course?
- Growing techniques for plants, vegetables and flowers
- Hands on experience handling plants in our kitchen garden
- How to to layer plants so that you get gorgeous displays all the year round
- Discover the properties of soil and how best to use the soil in your garden
Dean will share horticultural tips throughout this lively and fun day of garden learning, ensuring that you leave enthused and excited to get to work in your own garden.
All tools and equipment are provided.
Itinerary
The day runs from 9.30am until approximately 4pm. Delicious refreshments are available on arrival, followed by a two-course lunch and afternoon tea rounds the day off.

For all of our courses you will be outside for some of the time so appropriate outdoor, gardening clothes and shoes will be required.
